From designing impactful services to developing more inclusive systems, working Build With Humanity is a collaborative and transformative experience. Here is a preview into our process.

We literally couldn’t do our work without you, That is why we partner with you to identify opportunities for both innovation and impact among undeserved communities. We have an initial evaluation on the sustainability, viability, and impact of your service, program, or product and help you identify opportunities for innovation. We’ll set up regular check-ins to update you on your project’s progress, and we’ll layout project milestones. We work with you throughout the project to help us build exactly what you need.

During our engagement, you might be doing any of the following things:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders and end users for research

  • Sharing feedback on concept sketches or prototypes

  • Providing input on success metrics or organizational goals

  • Communicating our work to your board, staff and volunteers

If we knew exactly what we were designing at the kickoff, the project wouldn’t need us. Equity-centered community design involves creating and testing theories, over and over. We’ll start with some hypotheses, but as we uncover insights from end users, these will likely change. As solutions begin to take shape, we will continue to engage with the people who are most likely to want, need and use them. Each iteration will bring us closer to clarity and confidence.

Teaching is part of our DNA at Build With Humanity. Whether or not our engagement officially includes training or coaching, we are always eager to share the methods and mindsets of equity-centered community design. Likewise, we are equally curious about your organization, and will ask quite a few questions to understand your business and uncover underlying assumptions. Be prepared to both teach and learn!
